The village of Kryz, which is one of the most mountainous, picturesque and at the same time the oldest villages in Azerbaijan, differs from other villages in many ways.
Surrounded by mountains such as Mount Tufan, White Mountain and Baltagaya, it is built on steep cliffs and resembles an eagle sitting on the rocks.
It is no coincidence that one of the rocky passes leading to the village of Kryz, impassable and very dangerous, even difficult to overcome on horseback, is popularly called “Myhtoken”. According to local residents, even horseshoes were torn away by the debris of these roads.
There are legends among the Kryz people that the village was built as a fortification for protection against the enemy. The geographical location of the village Kryz and the remnants of an ancient fortress and fortress walls in the village support this idea.
You can’t get enough of the magnificent scenery of cliffs, witnesses to history and centuries. The photo gallery that we presented describes a small part of the steep cliffs of the Kryz. These pictures sent to us were taken during a visit to the ancient ancestral home of the Gurbanovs, the village of Kryz.
