Israfil Abulfaz oglu Gummatov (Israfil Kryzly) was born in 1951, in the village of Kryz, Guba region. In 1979 he graduated from the history department of the Azerbaijan State Pedogogical Institute.
Israfil Kryzly played a big role in the development of education, as well as in educating the younger generation in an educated and patriotic spirit.
From 1983 to 2003 he worked as the director of a secondary school in the village of Khaspoladoba, Khachmas region, from 2003 to 2006 he worked as the director of secondary school No.1 in the city of Khachmas.
From 2006 to 2017, he worked as a history teacher at secondary school No. 2 in the city of Khachmas.
His research as a native speaker of the Kryz language and the compilation of the Kryz alphabet, consisting of 46 sounds based on the Azerbaijani alphabet with Latin script, is a great achievement. The first dictionary of the Kryz language based on this alphabet – “Kryz-Azerbaijani-English Dictionary” is the first scientific work of Israfil muallim.
Given that the Kryz language is endangered, it was necessary to compile an alphabet and dictionary of the Kryz language. This book, written by Israfil Kryzly with the close assistance of the German scientist Monika Rind-Pawlowski, is a great contribution to the Kryz people.
Even after his retirement, Israfil Kryzly is engaged in scientific and literary activities. We wish him good health and success in his work.
